The folding iPhone has taken an unexpected step closer to becoming a reality

While the long-rumored iPhone Flip has mostly stayed just that, a rumour, it appears like the much-anticipated Apple foldable phone has taken a significant symbolic step closer to being a reality.

This information comes from the Asian news site The Elec, which reported on Apple’s development of a new type of OLED display.

This model lacks a polarizer, which is a layer that improves the clarity of the screen, and The Elec claims that this absence, which also makes the screen thinner, makes it suitable for foldable phones.

This method of removing a polarizer to manufacture foldable phone displays isn’t new; the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 used one, and Samsung Display (a separate arm of Samsung from the group that makes Galaxy smartphones) is now creating Apple’s.
