Sony, ZTE, and Honor are among the companies involved.

It’s simple to see why the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is at the top of TechRadar’s list of the finest phones on the market right now.
There’s enough to appreciate whether you’re a photographer in need of a DSLR-rivaling smartphone, a frequent note-taker who likes the aesthetic of the S Pen stylus, or someone who spends a lot of time gaming or streaming video.
However, the phone’s exorbitant price may deter some users, which is why it’s fantastic that there are competitors to compete with. And three new ones are coming out in the next few days that could pull you away from the Galaxy.
So you know what to anticipate, we’ll walk you through these three phones in the sequence they’ll be released.
Axon 40 Ultra by ZTE
The Axon 40 range from ZTE is planned to launch on Monday, May 9, with an Ultra member of the family expected to accompany it.
According to one rumour, this is a massive phone that looks a lot like the S22 Ultra, but with an in-display selfie camera that keeps the screen from being cracked.
It’s supposed to contain three 64MP back cameras, 1TB of storage, 16GB of RAM, and a 2K 6.8-inch screen, making it amazing in a variety of ways.
We’ll have to wait and see if this one becomes widely available, as many ZTE Axon phones are released outside of China, but not all of them.
Xperia 1 IV (Sony)
Sony’s flagship phones are notoriously powerful – and pricey – and the company has stated that something will be released on May 11 – perhaps the Sony Xperia 1 IV?
Xperia phones are meant for creative professionals, featuring camera lenses and sensors created by the same minds behind Sony’s Alpha cameras, and extra tools such as the ability to use it as an additional viewfinder for photography.
Furthermore, they’re frequently just as powerful as Samsung’s phones, and the panels have a 4K resolution, giving them the award for high-quality displays.
We don’t know what Sony has planned for the Xperia IV, but if we see some significant upgrades, the new phone could trump the Galaxy.
Magic 4 Pro by Honor
Honor announces its final big launch of the week on May 12. It’s the global introduction of the Honor Magic 4 series, of which one member has already been seen.
This is the Honor Magic 4 Pro, and we already know a lot about it because it was part-released earlier this year. It will sport a 6.81-inch 120Hz display, a strong Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 CPU, and a striking design.
On paper, its cameras are the standouts: a 50MP main camera, 50MP ultra-wide camera, and 64MP telephoto camera on the back, and a 12MP camera with 3D Time-of-Flight sensor for selfies.
We’ll have to wait and see how it functions in practise, but if the price is right, this could be a good buy.
