In October 1992, the court authorised a proposal proposed by a group of Copeland’s creditors, which led in the formation of America’s Favorite Chicken Company, Inc. (AFC), which would act as the new parent company for Popeyes and Church’s, a chicken-focused fast food chain. AFC went public in 2001 with a $142,818,479 initial public offering (IPO). AFC sold Church’s to Arcipta (previously Crescent Capital Investments) on December 29, 2004, while keeping Popeyes.
