Kia India, Hyundai’s sister firm, is causing a stir in the Indian market. Its conventional car, the Kia Karens, which was just produced, has been a popular choice in the country. Kia, on the other hand, is prepared to embark on an electric trip in India. The Kia EV6 will be launched next month by the South Korean firm, which has yet to introduce an electric vehicle in India.

Bookings for this much-discussed vehicle began today. The booking fee is Rs 3 lakh, and the business has stated that only 100 units will be available.

For the first EV lot it wants to sell in India, Kia has decided to go the import way and has set a restriction of 100 cars. Importing electric vehicles carries a significant customs duty, so Kia is only using it as a stopgap measure until its plans for EV manufacturing in India are finalised. In India, Kia will create a tiny electric SUV aimed at emerging markets. The South Korean firm has already been selected for the government’s green vehicle production-linked incentive programme.

Kia EV6 bookings are available at 15 dealerships in India, spread across 12 cities.

Features and pricing for the Kia EV6

The Kia EV6 is built on Kia’s unique electric vehicle platform, E-GMP, which will underpin both Kia and Hyundai’s electric push. Kia expects to release 14 BEV cars by 2027, the first of which is the EV6.

In India, the all-electric crossover will be offered in special GT Line trims and will have a multi-charging system, the world’s first charging technology that works with both 400V and 800V chargers without the use of a separate controller. Using a 350KWh charger, the 800 V charger can charge the vehicle from 10% to 80% in as little as 18 minutes.

The EV6 will be available in India with a 77.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that generates 229 PS in 2WD and 325 PS in AWD. According to the WLTP combined cycle, the car can drive up to 528 kilometres on a single full charge. The Kia EV6 accelerates from zero to 100 kilometres per hour in 5.2 seconds.

The inside of the Kia EV6 is completely black, including black suede seats and vegan leather bolsters. Moonscape, Snow White Pearl, Runway Red, Aurora Black Pearl, and Yacht Blue are the five exterior colours available for the Kia EV6 in India.

The Kia EV6 will be equipped with Panoramic Dual 31.24 cm (12.3″) Curved Displays that will show navigation, driving data, and vehicle functions. It also comes with an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) and an Augmented Reality-enabled head-up display (HUD) with vehicle speed information and turn-by-turn navigation directions. The Meridian Sound System, which features 14 speakers, is intended to be a standout feature.

On June 2, 2022, the new electric product, which is projected to cost roughly Rs 60 lakh, will go on sale.
