A tech feast for artists, designers, and others
Acer has announced that its ConceptD line of laptops and computers would be updated to support the most recent generations of Nvidia and Intel processors.
The line is aimed primarily at creative workers with higher-than-average hardware needs for their jobs or hobbies, such as powerful graphics cards and high-performance processors for 3D rendering.
Both the ConceptD 5 and ConceptD 5 Pro laptops will be updated to include a 16-inch OLED display, a 12th Generation Intel Core i7 processor, and either an Nvidia RTX A5500 or Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti graphics card. Up to 32GB of rapid LPDDR5 memory and up to 2TB of M.2 SSD storage are also included.
These laptops will be labelled with the Nvidia Studio logo to distinguish them as creative workstation machines, and they’ll come preloaded with features for creatives like Studio drivers and Nvidia Omniverse for collaborative project work.
The new ConceptD 5 laptop will be available in August 2022 in North America, with pricing starting at $2,499.99 (approximately £2,000 / AU$3,500), and in June in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Meanwhile, starting in September 2022, the ConceptD 5 Pro laptop will be available in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa for €2,599 (about $2,700 / £2,200 / AU$3,900). There is no official word on when the Acer ConceptD 5 Pro will be available in other countries, such as the United States.
Bring out the computers
A 12th generation Intel Core i9 processor and an Nvidia RTX A4000 or GeForce RTX 3070 GPU are now available on the upgraded ConceptD 500 desktop. Although it appears that the memory choices are still DDR4 rather than DDR5, you can opt for up to 128GB of 3200 Mhz RAM.
There’s plenty of storage space, too, with up to 4TB of M.2 SSD storage and a 4TB HDD available, though you could always upgrade to a larger storage choice if this isn’t enough.
The new ConceptD 500 desktop will be available in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa in September 2022, with prices starting at €1,199 / £1,899 (about $1,260 / AU$1,800). Acer also stated that shipments to China will not begin until the fourth quarter, and there is no shipping estimate for those in North America or Australia.
The ConceptD 100 desktop range has been updated to accommodate a choice of 12th Gen Intel Core i5 or Core i7 processors and a professional Nvidia T400 or T1000 GPU if you wanted something a bit more compact.
According to Acer, this range was created with both 2D and 3D content makers in mind, and will now handle up to 128 GB of DDR4 3200 Mhz RAM, as well as up to a 2TB HDD and a 2TB M.2 SSD for storing massive files.
This should make them ideal for 3D modelling and CAD work, as well as reducing desk space if you’re working in a small studio or booth. From September 2022, you can buy one for €999 / £899 (about $1,050 / AU$1,500) throughout Europe (including the UK), the Middle East, and Africa.
